Ribbon Cut on Todd County Career Path Institute

The culmination of a partnership
between multiple agencies and government entities was celebrated in
Elkton, Kentucky. On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 10 a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception was held at the new Todd County
Career Path Institute.
The two million dollar facility
was built in cooperation and funding from Todd and Christian Counties. Funding, including $500,000 from Todd Fiscal Court, $1 million in federal
grant money, and a $250,000 community development block grant issued to Todd
County and another issued to Christian County that Judge-Executive
Steve Tribble and fiscal court designated to the project.
Hopkinsville Community College will administer the curriculum to
students at Todd County Central High School and adults looking to
learn new skills and trades. Eston Glover, chairman of the South
Western Kentucky Economic Development Council, said in his remarks, the tech center
will give opportunities for dozens of students to learn a trade before
graduation.

Greenfield praised their federal and state representation for efforts to
obtain grant money for the project and thanked Judge Tribble and
Christian Fiscal Court for going above the call of duty to support a
neighboring county.
HCC will offer programs in
welding, electrical maintenance, network engineering, nursing, machine
tool, computer aided design and businesses administration. Courses
are set to begin at the facility in the fall of 2016.
Judge Tribble, Hopkinsville Community College President Dr. Jay Allen,
Todd County School District Superintendent Wayne Benningfield, State Senator Whitney
Westerfield, 13th District State Representative Martha Jane King, PADD Executive Director Jason Vincent, PADD Associate Director Amy Frogue, and Todd County
Industrial Foundation President John Walton also gave remarks. The Todd
Central Jazz Band, under the direction of Calvin Warren, performed at the beginning of the program.
