On December 2, students from Todd County Central High School, Todd County Middle School, and South Todd Elementary School competed in the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) Regional Showcase Competition at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Students from across the region competed in the annual event. The STLP competition is much like a science fair, but with a focus on technology. To compete in the showcase, a project must follow rubric guidelines from either the service, technical or instructional division of the STLP contest. Students are judged based on the creativity and innovation of their product, technology implementation, and overall presentation.

Teams from TCCHS, TCMS, and STES advanced to state competition in Lexington, Kentucky in April. The advancing teams received at least an “85” out of the “100” point rubric for their project division and will be advancing to the state competition.

TCCHS STLP Coordinator, Ghan Smith, said students were well-deserving of this honor. “We congratulate all of our students on an outstanding job and look forward to cheering them on at the state competition in April. Our STLP program in Todd County continues to grow each year and it has proven to be beneficial for students and their respective schools.”
