ELKTON, Ky (WBKO) - The Todd County Rebels only won two
games last year but both came in the last three weeks of the season,
and the Rebels plan on taking that momentum into this fall.
The
Rebels lost some starters on both sides of the ball from 2014 but they
also return some key positions like quarterback and receiver. It appears
the late season success has motivated coach Bryan Jones' Rebels because
he says his team is displaying a work ethic necessary to improve. His
players understand the dedication is vital and say all the extra time is
helping the team bond!
"We
show up here at five and if I roll in here at four o'clock half the
team is already here getting in some extra running and doing some extra
things on their own so that's on them and nobody is telling them to do
that so that's exciting to see as well," Jones said.
"My
expectations are winning more ball games this year and and in the
weight room that's what coach says we have to work harder each and every
day in there and that's how we're going to win games working in the offseason," junior linebacker Jamison Brown said.
"I
know there is a whole lot more bond and family in this team than I have
seen in my four years," senior offensive and defensive lineman Brian
Willis said.
The Rebels start the season on the road at
Crittenden County. Their next three games are at the friendly confines
of home against Breckinridge County, Hart County and Trigg County. On
September 18th they are at Russellville, a team they haven't beat in 27
years.
Their
district slate starts September 25th at Hancock County. The Hornets
were the Rebels first win last year. Their next two are at home against
McLean County and Owensboro Catholic. Their final district game is on
the road at Butler County and they end their regular season on the road
at Logan County.
