Todd County Central High School is proud to announce that the following students have been chosen to participate in the 2016 Governor’s Scholars Program this summer: Leah Wiles, Palmer Stooksbury, and Kyle Harris.

Established in 1983, the Governor’s Scholars Program is a nationally recognized five-week summer residency program which offers outstanding high school juniors the opportunity to study and interact with faculty members from three of Kentucky’s colleges.  Scholars balance a busy academic schedule in the sciences, mathematics, and humanities with a variety of co-curricular activities and a rich residential life on campus.  They participate in community projects, seminars, and other activities that are often initiated by the students themselves.

A statewide selection committee chose participates for the program from nominations submitted from each Kentucky school district.  TCCHS was allowed to submit nine nominations and three of our students were chosen to participate.  Selection criteria included academic records and test scores, teacher recommendations, extracurricular activities, and essays.  The program is free to those who attend.  Students are awarded a $1500 scholarship for attending.
